About

My commitment to you as your therapist is to provide a space to create transformation, assist you in discovering who God called you to be, and provide effective therapy that will foster lasting change in your life. With integrity, empathy, and honesty, I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques to provide the best avenue toward thriving instead of surviving. I work with teens, adult individuals, couples, and families dealing with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, infidelity, abandonment, and much more. It would be my honor to help you find healing and hope in Christ.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

My goal as your therapist is to enhance your daily life, help you develop more satisfying interpersonal relationships, and assist you with whatever obstacles you face in your journey. I desire to partner with you and support you in a way that helps you develop self-awareness of a value-centered life by creating alternative narratives and visions for yourself in the light of Christ, our ultimate healer.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

I provide a safe space for you to process difficult aspects of your life and offer support and tools to assist you in your healing within a Christ-centered environment. My goal is to create a partnership with you in which you determine the direction you’d like to go for each session, while I provide input and practical tools to help you set attainable goals to navigate and overcome your current challenges.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

I believe as counselors we have a code of ethics that we must abide by, but we also have the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God to follow as well. This can be difficult when societal positions directly contradict biblical teaching. I think the distinct difference is that we seek answers from clinical theory and apply these from a theological perspective. We seek God in identifying pathways for healing, encourage spiritual growth, and model Christian standards, attitudes, values, and lifestyles.
I believe in the power of prayer, the teaching of the Word, and God’s healing interventions. John 16:33 tells us that within Christ we will have peace, but in the world we will have tribulation, which speaks to the struggles we have in our earthly lives. Hebrews 13:5-6 also tells us that the Lord will never leave or forsake us, and to trust that He is there to help and allow us to live without fear.
God’s Word is my ultimate guide and allowing His promises to reach our lives is where we attain ultimate healing and peace. Isaiah 41:10 reaffirms this by saying, “I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.” If we seek biblical answers and use clinical knowledge, I believe counselors are a lifeboat to help clients reach the shore and find true healing through the acceptance of Jesus Christ and the answers we seek in God’s Word.

Biography

Qualifications & Experience

I earned my Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) at Lewis Clark State College and my Master of Social Work (MSW) at Boise State University. I also have certifications in different modalities including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), ACT coursework, Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy.

My Call to Christian Counseling

I became a therapist because I believe in the power of change and hope. God did not promise that we would never struggle and sometimes we need people in our lives to partner with along the journey to alignment and peace. I wanted to connect to people on a different level and understand their stories to assist them when they are in the storms of our earthly lives. I have always felt called to serve, and counseling is a way to serve others to reduce suffering for His kingdom.

More About Me/On a Personal Note

I enjoy time with our grandchildren (doing arts and crafts, playing outside, watching them learn, and cooking with them). My husband and I enjoy time with our horses, gardening, and being outdoors and in nature (especially the water). I have a passion for herbal medicine and enjoy learning all the glorious plants God has created for our benefit.

Anxiety

In our busy and demanding world, anxiety has become both a conscious and unconscious process for many people. Anxiety can consume our lives to the point where we become overwhelmed, stuck, or even panicked. This avalanche of emotion continues to chip away hope and peace until we feel lost, afraid, and lonely in our struggles. When we experience the power of healing and learn to live without fear, our lives can become more balanced and centered. Through our sessions together, we can explore tools and gain the knowledge needed to manage your anxiety symptoms and move into the life you value. I am here to partner with you as you grow and learn how to reach a place of peace.

Grief and Loss

I believe that grief and loss are unavoidable significant challenges we face throughout our lifetime on earth. I strive to provide a compassionate space for you to explore the stages of grief. Whether the loss is from a death, an unexpected transition, a betrayal, or another form of loss, I will provide you with compassion and space while you travel your healing journey. I believe grief is a sacred process and individual to each person that requires patience, compassion, and support with the goal of acceptance and peace.

Trauma

Sadly, we live in a broken, confusing world that is filled with trauma of all kinds. Our bodies are beautifully designed to react to danger, whether that be physical, emotional, psychological, or relational. However, we sometimes stay in this heightened state of awareness and have a difficult time passing through to healing. We may begin to feel or notice patterns in our thinking that present confusion or uncertainty when in reality we are no longer in a dangerous situation, yet our thoughts continue to dictate our story. I will partner with you to explore what occurred and work together to implement strategies for you to gain empowerment and healing.

Marriage Counseling

Marriage is the greatest commitment two individuals can make. Marriage is a true partnership that takes the commitment and sacrifice of two people meeting together as a unit. This means we are no longer thinking about just ourselves, but the unit as a whole. It means putting our egos aside in order to grow together and maintain value in one another. Together, we can navigate what marriage is, what relational values you share, and create a stronger foundation to manage difficult seasons and maintain strength through challenges.

Individual Counseling

I work with clients to increase self-awareness, encourage personal growth, and define your life from a holistic approach. When you know what matters to you, we can partner to create pathways to be who you want to be. My goal as a Christian counselor is to empower you to overcome obstacles that you may face and equip you with tools and awareness to better navigate future challenges. By working together to understand who you are and what you want to be, we can begin to discern God’s purposes for your life.
